Amplitude and Clarity

Billy Joel has gotten it right on several occasions (no commentary on right to wrong ratio necessary - the guy's a talent).  "...the more I find out the less that I know, black and white is how it should be but shades of grey are the colors I see...".

None of us are omniscient and youthful arrogance often (at least in my family) leads to embarrassed head-shaking in retrospect as we grind out the years.

Introspection and issues of maturity and interpersonal relationships aside, most realities of life work along a different set of rules.  Unclouded by the nuances of emotion, feats of engineering either work or they don't.   Gravity has pretty much a universally similar effect on all things, bright or beautiful or any other state.  (don't mess with me on the unified theory thing either - we are pretty much all still tied to the surface of one rock and the physics are cool but don't miss the point).

Bottom line - liberals have always, always do, and will always be on the wrong side.  I am done with trying to see between their imaginary lines to the grey they live in.  I am done with equivocating.  I am done with justification.  Politically, ideologically, and for the survival or our culture and democracy - the gloves are off.  Liberals ARE the enemy of the survival of democracy.

Despite pathetic turns like the McCain/Hillary hookup, the massive interference by the mainstream press in election and candidate coverage, ad nauseam, most thinking people get it.

It IS a thin veil of civilization that protects us from all living like they do in most of the (arabic, radical islamic) world.  A thin veil that lies between us and racism, hatred, complete corruption, misery, poverty of the masses, superstition, oppression and murder of women, slavery, indentured service to monarchy, castes, and... is it clear?

We hold these TRUTHS to be self-evident.... our country was founded upon the basis that there are TRUTHS that liberate men and society.  Mixing the colors until everything is grey is not what I intend to leave for my children.  I read "1984" and got it.  No thanks.

The Clintons, Schumers, Kennedys, Feinsteins, Boxers, Durbins, and Bidens of this generation HAVE to be defeated in the arena of politics and in the hearts and minds of the next generation.  Truth matters.  Real action is necessary.  Changing history to fit what you want to do today does nothing but condemn tomorrow.

The highs and lows and the crystal clear are all wrapped up in this - there is distinction and perfect contrast between the ideals of Hizbollah and Israel, Al Qaeda and the USA, Bin Laden and Bush.

If you cannot see that, are unwilling to admit it, or feel the contrast in those ideals is not worth the fight - you and I are not on the same side.  You don't get it.  And your irresponsibility with the truth disqualifies you (in my book) from any leadership position where that same irresponsibility may cost my children their culture or their very lives.

How Big IS That Gap

I remember as a kid watching as (between lively arguments) my older brothers worked for hours on cars that, I was convinced, would never see another day on the road.  Between injuries, they accomplished some amazing things and I grew more confident that I never wanted to work on cars.

I did get into the tools.  I remember discovering this thing that was about the coolest thing you could use to clean your teeth.  Particularly after raiding the homemade jerky.  They were on a ring and varied in thickness from paper thin to maybe an eighth of an inch.  Just right for the gap between my two back teeth on the lower right side.

My brother, rather indignantly, informed me that these were "gappers" or what he used to set the gap correctly in spark plugs so he got the correct amount and length of fire in each cylinder.  If the gap was set too wide, the distributor might not deliver enough current to the plug to bridge the gap with "fire".  Whammo - no good fire, no good run, and he might lose money on the drag.

Given the response we have seen this week from the media, most of Europe and the Great Annan, there seems to be a dramatic, urgent, unprecedented, and downright desperate need to pull the plugs and break out the gapper.  No amount of current on earth is going to get the old 'rod running if the gap is really set as ridiculously wide as seems to be.

Condemn Israel?  Retaliate in measure?  Didn't this all get the light of day when we gave these gaseous nuts control over the Korean "conflict" and it turned out that winning could never be an objective?

Listen - knowing that many of you in Europe (and most in the media) have forgotten that you could be speaking German today, I am not surprised that you have forgotten that Ottmoman Arabic was almost your primary tongue as well.

When you remember these things it will strike you as a novel thought that had some collection of gallant knaves not said, "Enough!" - all our lives would be quite different today.  The point comes down to when to win not when to whine.

You do not win through negotiation with an enemy that is determined upon your destruction.  You do not win via limited response to overt acts of terrorism (btw - firing untargeted munitions into population centers that have no military value IS BY DEFINITION TERRORISM).  You win by incapacitation and complete defeat of those forces in such an array against you.  No choice, no other chance.

Then you can negotiate.  Then you can make a better life for all involved.

No person has more to fear than those who have given a reasonable man no choice but to use his gun.

God help us if the gap is so wide we make no difference between right and wrong, survival and destruction, or justice and terrorism.

Well Placed Thanks

As a first post on the blog, it is only just that the focus is placed on those who have made it possible for this priviledge.

Troops, wherever you now serve - Thanks.  Thanks for the hard work, thanks for the investment of life, liberty, future and friends.  Thanks for standing in our stead in defense of what we know is right and in offense to the evils we know to be seperated from us by the line of your resolve.

When you run that patrol, when you once again lay your head in the sand to sleep, when you are bored to tears and when you are scared beyond measure  - know our prayers, thoughts and thanks are with you.
