Astonied

I used to laugh when I saw the word "astonied" used in place of "astonished".  It is a whimsical usage and crops up in literature and even scripture from time to time.  For one whose life spilled just enough into the 60's to not miss the 70's, it had other resonance by, albeit innocent, association.

Nontheless, I stand astonied.

Although I have never, never been "in the bag" for Sen. McCain, for the life of me I cannot understand the failure of the Country, MY Country, to see the catclysmic differences between McCain and Sen. Obama.  The millisecond attention span of the third MTV generation, let alone the first and second, may well sell our society down the toilet.

Lets do some comparisons.

Obama has built his candidacy, his career and his adult life around complaining that this Country does not do enough, does not spend enough, and has done wrong to the majority both domestically and internationally.

McCain has built his candidacy, his career and most of his adult life around expressing thanks to this Country for all it has done for him and all that it offers to anyone who will live by its rule of law and recognition of human rights.

Obama demands change, sacrifice and diminishment of each of us so that we may address the wrongs we have committed.  His government will forcibly take from those who have no choice to give to ... well whoever the government chooses, normally someone closely allied with democratic elites.

McCain demands change of government to lessen the restrictions that would keep each of us from accomplishing our goals and dreams - so that we may be of help to others from a position of strength.

Obama speaks of change through judicial activism and legislative mandate.  McCain speaks of change through elevation of personal rights from governmental interference.

The bottom line - McCain believes in this Country.  Obama believes in his vision of what this country should be.  That vision does not include Joe the plummer, freedom of speech, property rights or freedom of religion.  To name a few.

With the MSM COMPLETELY abandoning the pretense of journalism, and the huge influx of voters who could care less as long as they get "theirs" from whoever it has to be taken from, it is a strange place wherein we live.

Go vote - and tell others.  Make your case. Pray. Save our Country.  The world needs America as the Shining City on a Hill... not as a socialist backwater.

A Bit of a Sticky Wicket

I must admit, I am concerned.  That may be a "Duh" for many but for me, it is not good.

I have stumbled through most of life with a general trust in the American people and a belief in the safety net of individual responsibility, at the bottom line, to God.  For those who came into political puberty during the Reagan years, negativity is fairly foreign.  Now I am trying hard to hold it down.

It is not simply the meltdown that is happening in the marketplace - this is scary, worthy of serious pause and debilitating worldwide.

It is that such a large percentage of the American people are supporting Obama and those with him who literally DROVE us to this party (I have to ignore the Obamamania in the rest of the world simply because of the corruption and naivetivity that plays such a part in the socialist leaning countries that we get so much press from).

This did not occur in a vacuum.  We are reaping what Pelosi and Reid and Frank and Biden and Dodd and Kennedy and so many others on the left have sown into our government for years.  This is what they said and acted out that they wanted.

THIS is what Reagan and Buckley and Gingrich and Will and Rove have warned about.  Do you get it?  Do you understand yet?  Do you, Mr. and Ms. supporter of "Change"?

Do you see that by corrupting the marketplace with your infernal legislative and judicial activism in the name of "class equality" (another word for socialism) and by using government's awful powers to redefine success as evil while brokering power for your personal wealth, you have destroyed the WORLD's confidence in the only marketplace they perceived to be free of what they suffered with?

Do you see that when Reagan proclaimed this great nation a "shining city on a hill" that it was not mere oratory - it was about our leadership role in bringing nations along toward freedom from corruption.  The rule of law and personal property rights and freedom of religion (not from it) and free market capitalism can NEVER be perfect because humans are involved.

BUT - those ideals are liberating... they allow hope and purpose and freedom that confiscatory government and dehumanized programs can never replace or even emulate.

Do you see how far you have drug us all?  I don't think so.

I hear all the talking heads, including on Fox, pointing angry words at this President and administration.  True, they should have fought harder.  But who is talking about ACCOUNTABILITY for Barney Frank?  Who is talking about HEARINGS - with Dodd, Pelosi, Frank, Reid and all the others - even Obama - ANYONE - being held accountable to the American people for what they have done?

I am angry.  But I am more than a bit afraid that we have lost our country.  I know so many good people who really get it, but we have not held on.

How can anyone in their right mind not see how we got here?  It IS greed.  It IS corruption.  It IS rape of the American people.  BUT, it didn't happen on Wall Street - it happened in congress and we don't seem to have enough votes from people who care to make it change.

I did say I was having a hard time holding this down.

A Good Review

Finally!

FOX News did a GREAT job last night of developing the facts about how we got here.  Not origin of the species - origin of the disaster which the bailout has now capped.  They named names and played tape (amazing how that simply disappears) of Pelosi and Biden and Schumer and Dodd and all their corrupt cohorts who fought for years to MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

I don't know if it will make a difference but, it was pretty plain that the reporters at Fox were so overwhelmed with how straight the line was that pointed almost exclusively to the Democrats and RAMPANT corruption... they were almost begging the viewers to carefully consider their vote.

Obama is right in there.  The audacity is that the empty suit would point at Republicans and conservatives when he had directly taken more money from Fanny and Freddie than any other politician save one.

The Bush administration took on the corruption from almost day one after the inauguration in 2001 - and there is documentation readily available to prove it.  This administration has been lied about, scapegoated and burned at the stake for what it's political opponents have openly, on the record been responsible for.

No bias in the media?  Get real.

We are, quite simply, paying the price for a radically irresponsible, corrupt left wing element in our government and the complicity of an elitist media that embraces the demise of western civilzation.  These radicals DO NOT want change - they simply want more power to be able to destroy anyone who brings to light their arrogant misuse of our trust, government and future.

They DO want to be sure we pay for the success of our historical ideals and Judeo-Christian values with failure.  Did you see the pure joy which eminated from Pelosi and her ring of liberal psychophants as they became convinced of national tragedy?  It was because, in this bailout, they had seen redemption - a vast reserve of power to destroy those who would appropriately blame them for forcing (NOT allowing) this crisis to happen.  It was also because they rejoice in anything that spells failure for this great nation.

It's time.  We have the evidence.  No more compromise.  They need to be dug out before they truly destroy our way of life and form of government - which is their goal.

THROW THE BUMS OUT!

Please.
